Heart Shapes
Are heart shaped spots on an appaloosa common?
I have a 7 month old leopard appaloosa colt, and i noticed he has not one, but two heart shaped spots on him! I just wanted to know if hearts are a very common thing on appaloosas.
My friend has 2 appaloosas, both of them have heart shaped spots. I've seen several others with heart shaped spots at shows too.
One of her horses though, you can tell he just has 3 spots really close together that look like a heart (black 'heart' on his flank). But the other has a true heart, not messy looking at all, looks like someone took a stencil and spray painted it on. (tan on her neck - she's a buckskin).
I've seen one appaloosa at a show that had two perfect stars. One on his leg and one on his cheek. One was a six point star, one was a five point star. It was pretty cool.
