Fly fishing, fly tying ?? Black beetle?
I am relatively new to fly tying but I love it, I want to Tie a black beetle I have all the materials execept the right sort of hook and I have been told I need a fine wire dry hook but there are so many out there, I am buying online so can someone tell me what hook to get and where to get it from? Please provide website address if possible. Thank you very much 
Depending on what you're fishing for i would suggest a slightly heavier hook. I like a kamasan wet and dry hook. My reason for suggesting a heavier hook for what is essentially a dry fly is that you are likely to be tying it with an ethofoam back? which will support the weight of a slightly heavier hook and since your new to fly fishing a heavier hook will withstand more punishment from hard strikes etc.
However its not only this, in my opinion the beetle pattern fishes better when its slightly lower in the surface film, i have even fished them "drowned" by trimming away some of the foam and adding sinkant.
I tie a large amount of my flies with kamasan hooks as they keep their point well and they also are strong even in the finer wire styles, i have resorted to buying them from the internet as not many fly shops stock them.
