Conceptual ideas for a painting with the theme of a peacock?
I am quite at a loss here. I have two tables do for a class of art and ideas are supposed to be theoretical, with a sort of meaning behind them and the theme I have chosen is a peacock. I made one piece, but now I have no idea at all what to do for the last two parts. One painting that I have a room halfway and did the body of a peacock blue and parts of the eye and its feathers is just the front, but my teacher insists that part of me more than any aesthetic and must have a conceptual meaning. They just have a theme of a peacock, but a kind of deeper message. Someone there ideas at all? I have nobody to exchange ideas outside of itself all that you could throw at me will help me try to find a way concept. Thank you for your time!
I do not understand the conceptual framework (the "idea") behind the table that you did. Look for the symbolism Peacock http://www.whats-your-sign.com/peacock-symbolism.html this link and you will find a) In the Greco-Roman mythology the Peacock is identified with Hera (Juno) who created the peacock from Argus with a hundred eyes (seen on the tail feathers of the peacock) symbolize the vault of heaven and the "eyes" of stars. b) In Babylonia and Persia the peacock is considered a guardian of the kingdom, and is often seen in the engravings on the thrones of royalty. So you can paint a throne with an image of a peacock on it. c) There is a belief at the beginning held that the gates of heaven are guarded by a pair of peacocks.
