I have a male cockatiel 9 years old. He pulled his feathers under tail, I can see a red ball, what is this?
He pulled out the small feathers around his sex organ, below his stomach and above his tail feathers. Now I can see a red ball about the size of a small pea. Does anyone know what this might be?
is in on his back or on his underside? If it's on his back, it would be his preen gland...where he pulls oil out of and uses it to preen his feathers and make them waterproof. If it's his underside, It's probably his male part. I wouldn't know why he would pull feathers out there unless it itches around that area.
